What’s micro-LED display?
Micro-LED can be used in any kind of size display. Whether the display is as small as a near-eye display (NED) like a goggle, or as large as a video wall. The micro-LED display uses the LED chip size in micrometers without the package against the traditional SMD type package and addressed by the CMOS circuit as a pixel as a display unit.

The advantages of micro-LED are obvious. It inherits the advantages of inorganic LED such as high efficacy, high brightness, high reliability, and fast response against OLED. Compared to SMD LED, there is no doubt micro-LED is better in the viewing angle, contrast ratio, and etc.

Backplane
The backplanes for micro-LED could be silicon subtract, glass, or PCB, etc. depending on the applications. The mass transfer technology is used to transfer the LED chip from the epitaxy to the backplane. There is quite a challenge to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and yield in the mass transfer technology.
